Teach Earth's Rotation Revolution & Seasons Using Supplies You Already Have!

Sometimes finding supplies to allow your students to work in groups is difficult. Here are some suggestions:

  • Ask your Phys. Ed. department to borrow basketballs, baseballs, kickballs, etc. for the day. Even for a class of 30 you won’t need to borrow more than 10 for the day.
  • Send out an email asking to borrow flashlights for the day from staff members.
  • Use any lamp without a lamp shade you have. A trip to a thrift shop may provide you with enough lamps to have for years to come.
  • Ask students to bring in “Earth” from home. It can be anything from a basketball to an actual globe.
  • Have some funding? These are the globes I used. I do NOT receive a commission, I am just sharing what I used in my class: Small globes. I also used some wooden skewers I had at home to pierce the globes and make the axis.
  • The flashlights I used are listed here. I like that they came with batteries to help keep the extra expense to a minimum.
