This Planets of the Solar System lesson is perfect for your classroom!

• Inner Planets – Also called the Rocky or Inner Planets which are composed of Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars.
• Gas Giants – Also called the Jovian planets which include Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
• Dwarf Planets – In 2006, scientists created a new category of planets called the Dwarf Planets. This was largely due to the discovery of dwarf planet Eris beyond Pluto, which famously reclassified Pluto to a dwarf planet. The asteroid Ceres was similarly reclassified as a dwarf planet as well.
• The planets are taught in three separate lessons: inner planets, gas giants, and dwarf planets.
