This Water Cycle Lab Activity pairs well with Water Cycle Lesson.

Students will learn the following:

  • Earth is a very watery planet, over 70% of the surface is water. But that doesn’t make it drinkable. With a visual demonstration, students will learn that the amount of drinkable water on Earth is actually very small.
  • There are more steps to the water cycle than they may know. For example, sublimation is when water goes directly from a solid to a gas. There is also infiltration and percolation – all important steps of the water cycle.
  • Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. Too little or too much can make people uncomfortable.
  • Only when air is saturated can dew or frost happen. There are ways to saturate the air. If the air temperature reaches its dew point when it is below freezing, frost happens
