Why is Betty Holberton perfect for a Women’s History Month Activity?

She was one of the pioneering programmers of the ENIAC, one of the world’s earliest electronic general-purpose computers. Holberton played a crucial role in programming the ENIAC to perform complex calculations for the United States military during World War II. Holberton’s work helped revolutionize computing technology. This laid the foundation for modern computer programming.

She was a key member of a team of women programmers known as the “ENIAC Six,” who made significant advancements in computer programming at a time when few women were involved in the field. Holberton’s expertise and problem-solving skills were instrumental in advancing the capabilities of early computers.
