This Women’s History Month activity features Sau Lan Wu – a notable woman in STEM. This reading comprehension and research activity is great for teaching about important women in history. Sau Lan Wu was a prominent figure in women’s history. This is due to her significant contributions to the field of physics, particularly in the study of particle physics and the discovery of the Higgs boson. Wu broke barriers and shattered gender stereotypes in a male-dominated field. This inspired countless women to pursue careers in science.
Wu’s groundbreaking work includes her involvement in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) project at CERN. This is where she played a pivotal role in the search for the Higgs boson particle. Her contributions were instrumental in the discovery of the Higgs boson. This was a major scientific breakthrough that confirmed the existence of the Higgs field and its role in mass generation.
Putting aside her scientific achievements, Wu’s accomplishments hold immense significance in women’s history. She served as a role model and advocate for women in science.
